Many folks think I'm a beer and wine only guy, but I'll drink anything, as long as it's good. I'm fussy about spirits in the same way that I mainly only drink traditional (usually microbrewed) beer and balanced wines, not those high alcohol, goopy-sweet wines that go terribly with food. Unless I'm in a pinch "" any Port in a storm and all that.

If you plan to come to London, here's a word of advice: don't order the fish and chips. Since moving here I have ordered chips (fries) whenever I could, since fries with mayo is one of my favorite things.

The flooded streets in Fredericton closed down many restaurants, and the Starving Students were hungry. Instead of doggy paddling around, they opted to skip town and drive 10 minutes to neighbouring Lincoln. They hit the Lincoln Big Stop, also known as The Blue Canoe, situated at 415 Nevers Rd.

The Two Fat Guys visited Cora's Breakfast and Lunch located at 730 Main St. this week, though another location can be found at 1040 Champlain St., Dieppe. This 21-year-old Montreal chain is open from Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cora's can be reached at 382-2672 (Main St.) and 382-3030 (Champlain St.) for more information.

[Hawk]: Having spent a few years living just a short distance from Montreal, I know my way around a smoked meat sandwich. From 1990 to 1997, I slammed as many inch-thick smoked meat sandwiches into my stomach as it could possibly handle. The sandwiches and the poutine are two of the things I miss most about the area.

Located at 179 Mountain Rd. in a converted home, Zen Garden is one of the few exclusively vegetarian restaurants in town. Open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. take note the restaurant is closed from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily it seems. Having never tried any of the food there, these Two Fat Guys decided to go over and graze.

And now, in honour of the food that's passed, it's that time of year to tell you who has the best coffee, booze, pizza, meats and treats in our tri-city. Yup, it's the Best of Food 2008... (Fatter Guy - to be known as FRG throughout this article): Wait a minute, 2008 is just beginning, shouldn't it be the best of food 2007?
